When Life Imitates Art (Or Steals It…)

countdown banner

Heist stories in books and film are loads of fun…but, sometimes, the real thing is just as fascinating.

Here are some thefts, in recent history (some very recent…see last week in Cannes), that read like something right off a movie script.

After authorities announced a couple of months ago they had cracked the case of a decades-old art heist, the Huffington Post created this fascinating slide show of some of history’s most brazen art thefts.

National Geographic did a roundup a few weeks ago, of some of most daring jewel heists in the past several years. The most surprising part? The thieves don’t always get caught.

Last week in Cannes, while the rich and beautiful were gathered on their yachts and their red carpets–and while Sofia Coppola’s movie The Bling Ring (about jewel thieves, of course!) made its debut–some real-life cat burglars made off with 1.4 million dollars’ worth of sparkly stuff.

So if you find those stories interesting…you’re gonna love my book. Just 9 days to go before launch day, people!

PS…want to come to a party? A virtual book launch party, that is.

  1. I didn’t know people still did heists nowadays. I though it was just a thing of the past. Great post and thanks for sharing 🙂
