A Weekend of Bliss

Here’s what I did last weekend: I went to BlissDom Canada in Toronto.

It was so awesome, I don’t quite know where to start.

If you’re not familiar with BlissDom, it’s a blogging conference for women. This means: approximately 500 females gathered in the heart of downtown Toronto to meet and share stories and swap strategies and have a ton of fun. Emphasis on the fun.

There were fascinating sessions, and inspiring keynote talks, but the most wonderful part for me was finally meeting in real life all the kick-ass women I’ve come to know online.

Although I must say, the lead-up felt a little like internet dating. I knew some personal stuff about them…they knew some personal stuff about me...would we hit it off in real life?…

Actually seeing these people walking & talking was a bizarre kind of quantum shift, like an imaginary world come to life. But oh so cool. And the best bit? No blind-date disappointments! Turns out, these women are just as awesome in real life as they are in the virtual world: creative, ambitious, funny, adventurous, brave, gorgeous, and downright fabulous.

I must admit, spending three days in a hotel all by my little self (while my kids were happily enjoying a boys’ weekend with daddy), I had kinda hoped for a little more Me Time. And a little more rest. That didn’t really pan out. Instead, it was a packed schedule, and so much fun that I simply couldn’t say no to anything. Not that I wanted to. There was dancing. There was wine. There was yummy food. There was lots, and lots of talking (I did mention this was a conference for women, yes?).

Bliss? You bet it was.
