My Holiday Playlist

CI love music. It’s therapy, medicine, and one of the great pleasures of life. The cool thing about music is there’s so much variety. It’s totally acceptable to have eclectic tastes, and you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy it.

The holidays, however, are an interesting time, music-wise. There’s some gorgeous music out there, there’s some overplayed stuff that starts out great and ends up tiresome after you’ve heard it 332 times, and then, of course, there’s the downright tragic. I would rather eat glass than listen to Bob & Doug McKenzie’s version of The 12 Days of Christmas again, for example…but maybe that’s just me. (And if that makes me un-Canadian, so be it.)

Anyway, I do love a good holiday playlist. I lean towards the jazzy when it comes to Christmas tunes, and I like I nice mashup of old and new, upbeat and mellow.

My ten favorites that I’ve been listening to this year:

  1. All I Want For Christmas — Michael Buble
  2. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas — Diana Krall
  3. Sleigh Ride — Ella Fitzgerald
  4. River — Sarah McLachlan
  5. Santa Claus Is Comin To Town — Tony Bennett
  6. O’Tannenbaum (Charlie Brown Christmas)– Vince Guaraldi Trio
  7. Christmas Song — Nat King Cole
  8. She & Him — Baby, It’s Cold Outside
  9. It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas — Michael Buble
  10. All I Want For Christmas — Mariah Carey

I recently checked out Songza, and I love their music concierge feature. I thought I’d try my hand at creating my own playlist, and if you’re feeling so inclined, you can listen to my whole “Christmas Soiree” playlist right here.

What about you? What holiday tunes do you love? (And any that you loathe?)

Happy Holidays, everyone!
