As an author, waiting for your cover can be a nail-biting experience. Covers are so important, yet most of the time we have little (to no) say in its design. My editor at Kensington is great–he always gives me the opportunity for input, and I usually make up a
Pinterest page of ideas and comparables.
Even still…you never know how it’s going to turn out.…

The highlight of my July, hands down, was going to New York City for Thrillerfest. Before jetting off for NYC,
I was pretty excited.
Did it disappoint? It did not.
I love New York!
The conference was held at the Grand Hyatt in New York, right next to Grand Central. Although I flew in, I popped into Grand Central when I first arrived, just to stand in awe.…

In just a few days I’ll be heading to New York.
Yes, the mothership for writers.
The reason I’m going, besides the general awesomeness of NYC? I’m going to
ThrillerFest! It’s an annual conference for thriller writers and readers, hosted by the International Thriller Writers. (And in this instance we’re talking about thrillers in the broadest sense–including mystery, suspense, crime, action-adventure, historical thrillers, YA thrillers…)
Here are some of the big-name authors who will be attending: Lee Child, David Baldacci, Lisa Gardner, Scott Turow, Brenda Novak, Steve Berry, Ian Rankin, Anne Rice…and the list goes on!…

A little while ago I sent the most recent round of revisions to my editor. Last week he sent me an email to say that everything was great, and he loved the changes I made. Yesssss.
This is a great relief. It means we’re on track for the release of my next novel,
A Magnificent Crime, in 2014.
Although some writers don’t enjoy doing revisions, I actually love them.…

I have got an excellent surprise for you today. My editor just sent me the cover image for my second book (the sequel to
A BEAUTIFUL HEIST, and book two in my Agency of Burglary & Theft series). Can you hear the excitement coming through my keyboard right now??
Until today I hadn’t even publicly disclosed the title yet, so here’s a double shot….title AND cover reveal all in one.…

A few weeks ago my editor sent me the little blurb the marketing department at Kensington created for my novel. How fun is that? This is the copy that will appear on retail sites for its release as an ebook. When it’s printed, this will be the cover blurb.
I must admit, it gives me a delighted shiver to know that a marketing department is actually putting time and effort into this.…

As we speak, my editor at Kensington is working with his art department to come up with a fab cover for my
first novel. But before he did that, he asked me if I had any thoughts on the design of the cover.
Which came as a wonderful surprise.
(And so much fun, I can’t even describe.)
Being a newbie, I figured cover design was exclusively the domain of the people at the publishing house and they wouldn’t be particularly interested in my input.…

I’ve got an exciting announcement. My editor,
Peter, and I have finalized the title for my forthcoming novel. It’s going to be called: A Beautiful Heist.
I love it, and I’m so looking forward to seeing it on the cover. But best of all, I finally have something intelligent to say when people ask me, in perfectly reasonable fashion, “So what’s the title of your book?”. …
